April 2016

On 30th April 2016, Mr. S. Vasudevan, Certified ISO Auditor, delivered a lecture on “Major Changes in ISO 9001:2015 from ISO 9001:2008” at NIQR Conference Hall. Mr. S. Rajasekaran, Chairman – NIQR Chennai Branch presided over the lecture programme and welcomed the members. Mr. C. V. Gowri Sankar, Secretary, NIQR – Chennai Branch, introduced the speaker.

The ISO 9000 Standards have been continually updated since they were first introduced. The new revision of the ISO 9000 standards has been published in September 2015. NIQR organised a lecture about the major changes in the latest version for the benefit of its members.

Mr. S. Vasudevan started off explaining the necessity for the revision of ISO 9001. He wanted the audience to concentrate on Annex SL to understand the major changes in a short time. The aim of Annex SL is to enhance the consistency and alignment of existing and future ISO management system standards. One of the key changes in the 2015 revision of ISO 9001 is to establish a systematic approach to risk, rather than treating it as a single component of a quality management system.

He explained the clauses where risk is addressed in ISO 9001:2015. He explained in detail the changes in each clause. He ended his presentation by detailing the potential benefits of the revised version. The Q & A session was very lively.

The NIQR Newsletter “Q Zine” for March – April 2016 was released by Mr. S. Vasudevan at the end of the lecture.
