Fifth Annual Competition On Six Sigma Case Study Presentation

NIQR HQ organised the fifth Competition on Six Sigma Case Study Presentation on 23rd November 2019 at Hotel Radha Regent, Chennai.

The function started with lighting of Kuthuvilakku by Dignitaries and some of the Participants.

In the inaugural function, Dr. V. Swaminathan, National Sr. Vice President, NIQR welcomed the gathering. He detailed the purpose of NIQR organizing 6 sigma case study competitions. He also expressed happiness at the large registration of teams (24), some delegates from various organizations. He also mentioned that based on the performance of teams, awards will be given in three categories namely Platinum, Gold & Silver.

Chief Guest, Mr. S. Rajasekaran, National President, NIQR emphasized the teams to learn from other team projects and conveyed his best wishes to the teams. 

Mr. K. Manikandan, National Vice president, NIQR himself a Black Belt, stressed on the importance of PST in today’s competitive world and hoped the teams will ensure sustainability of the gains for the business.

Mr. C. V. Gowri Sankar, National Secretary, NIQR introduced the Jury Members. He organised the sequence of the team presentations by members themselves randomly selecting the order of presentation.

Dr. A. Sanjeeva Rao, Past National President, NIQR Mr. Anandakumar, National Council Member NIQR, Mr. V. Raghavan, National Treasurer, NIQR and Mr. G. R. Janarthanan, Past National President, NIQR were the Juries.

Dr. A. Sanjeeva Rao explained the details of timeline norms to be followed by the teams and other regulations during presentations.

Mr. C. V. Gowri Sankar performed the MC role as well as Scorer and Compilation roles. Vote of thanks was given by Mr. C. V. Gowri Sankar.

After tea break the case study presentations started at 10.45am in two halls and completed around 3.00pm.

In the Valedictory Function, Dr. V. Swaminathan gave the welcome address and Mr. C. V. Gowri Sankar introduced the Chief Guest, Shri. K. V. Natarajan, Plant Head- Ennore, Ashok Leyland Ltd.

Feed back about the program was shared by four team members. All the respondents appreciated the way in which the whole program was organized and were happy to learn various steps of 6 sigma methodologies and application of tools. There were also suggestions to conduct this program at national level.

Dr. A. Sanjeeva Rao on behalf of the judges shared about the overall performance of the teams and highlighted that the overall maturity level of teams in systematic application of Six Sigma Methodology, relevant high level tools and quality of presentations have significantly improved. All the projects had significant impact on their respective businesses.

The Chief Guest in his valedictory address complimented NIQR for giving a platform to all organisations to showcase their projects every year. He shared his happiness about the large no. of teams present and hoped all teams would be taking home plenty of new knowledge which they can put into practice in their own organisations.

Awards and Certificates presented to all teams by the Chief Guest along with Mr. S. Rajasekaran, Dr. V. Swaminathan and Mr. K. Manikandan.

Mr. S. Rajasekaran and Dr. V. Swaminathan honoured the Chief Guest with a shawl and memento.

Totally 7 Platinum, 10 Diamond and 7 Gold Awards were presented to the teams.

Mr. C. V. Gowri Sankar proposed the vote of thanks.
