NIQR Felicitation To Deming Awardees On 6th April 2018
NIQR takes pleasure in felicitating eminent personalities and organisations which have contributed much for the promotion of quality and TQM. Over the years, NIQR has felicitated both Individuals and Organisations for winning the coveted Deming Prize.
On 6th April 2018, it organised a Felicitation Function at Hotel Hilton Chennai for Ashok Leyland Limited Hosur Plant II and CEAT Limited for having won the Deming Prize for the year 2017.
Mr. S. Muralishankar, National Treasurer, NIQR welcomed the august gathering which included Industry Heads apart from NIQR Members and congratulated the winners.
Mr. S. Rajasekaran, National Vice President, NIQR spoke about the achievements of Ashok Leyland in growing from 17th position in 2010 to 12th position in 2017, in commercial truck manufacturing globally.
Mr. K. Manikandan, Chairman, NIQR Chennai Branch in his address, mentioned about CEAT Limited’s strong R&D capability, in designing one of the safest tyres in the country and QBM – the CEAT way of management.
Mr. P. K. Aggarwal, National President, NIQR felicitated Ashok Leyland Limited represented by Mr. R. Sivanesan, Sr. Vice President, Quality, Sourcing & Supply Chain, Mr. P. Harihar, Sr. Vice President, Manufacturing & Project Planning and Mr. Unnikrishnan Vice President-Mfg., Hosur-2 and CEAT Limited represented by Mr. Shekhar Ajgaonkar, Senior Vice President – TQM, CEAT Limited with mementos.
In his Presidential Address, he made a mention that during the last 10 years globally 28 organizations have received the Deming Prizes and our country is on Top of the list with 10 winners. In 2017 only these two organisations have won Deming Prize and NIQR is happy to felicitate them.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Unnikrishnan thanked NIQR for the felicitation function arranged in a grand manner. He then made a presentation highlighting the DM & PM processes, making 40% of the plant area Green, adopting schools in Krishnagiri village as part of CSR initiatives.
Mr. Shekhar Ajgaonkar of CEAT Limited in his acceptance speech elaborated on the QBM, the CEAT way of management combining all TQM initiatives, long-term effect of TQM in a crisis-ridden factory way back in 2008 and Eye testing of one lakh drivers every year & Bubble heads for reducing speed as part of CSR initiatives.
