Glimpses of Inaugural Function – 16th NIQR Global Quality Convention
The 16th NIQR Global Quality Convention, hosted by Chennai Branch was held on 10th & 11th August, 2018 at Chennai Trade Centre, Chennai. The convention had many firsts, a few of them described here briefly.
In line with the name, we had speakers, sponsors, exhibitors and delegates from abroad making it truly Global.
For the Global followers, we have created a dedicated website for the convention which showcased all details of the convention and well appreciated by delegates.
We had developed an Apps for the convention delegates for excellent networking. We were very active in all the popular social media, namely, Face book, Twitter and LinkedIn; the postings developing many likes and tweets.
For the local public, we created advertisements in English and local language in FM Radios, namely, SURYAN FM, CHENNAI MIRCHI & HELLO FM; 50 of the metropolitan buses carried advertisements, on their back creating lot of interest on the convention and NIQR for the average public.
Mr. K. Manikandan, Convention Chairman and Chairman of NIQR Chennai Branch welcomed the delegates and eminent personalities from major Industries and Institutions across the country.
Mr. P. K. Aggarwal, National President, NIQR in his presidential address, referred to the impact this convention has given to the brand of NIQR. He added all NIQRians can take pride that the convention had made NIQR truly global.
The Guest of Honour, Mr. Bhaskar Bhat, Managing Director, Titan Company Limited spoke about the need for quality and reliability in the construction Industry and wanted NIQR to take the lead in developing some certificate course.
Mr. Ma Foi K. Pandiarajan, Minister of State – Commerce, Industry, Customer Affair, Food and Public Distribution was the Chief Guest for the Inaugural Function. He formally inaugurated the convention with the launch of a curtain raiser of the convention and a video about NIQR.
He started with the theme of the convention, ‘Digital Quality for Disruptive Future’ and gave lot of examples in real life in the past two decades, like .com, www, smart phone etc.,
He lauded the efforts of NIQR graduating from training shop floor operatives on basic TQM concepts to conducting a world class convention on a futuristic theme. He wants NIQR to migrate to a self governing statutory recognised body in the days to come.
The Inaugural Function came to an end with Mr. C.V. Gowri Sankar, Convention Secretary proposing the Vote of Thanks.
The Chief Guest then inaugurated the exhibition which was broadcasted live to the audience. He spent quality time with each and every one of the forty stalls which was well received by the exhibitors.
He also addressed the press conference lauding the efforts of NIQR in conducting the convention and exhibition on a mega scale.
Profile of Mr. Ma Foi K. Pandiarajan
Mr. K. Pandiarajan popularly known as Ma Foi K. Pandiarajan is an Indian businessman. He is the founder of Ma Foi Management Consultants Ltd, a human resource management company, and CIEL HR Services, another talent acquisition firm.
He had an undergraduate course in Engineering from PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore and an MBA programme in Industrial Relations at Xavier Labour Relations Institute, Jamshedpur.
At present, he is the Minister for Tamil Official Language, Culture & Archaeology, Government of Tamilnadu.
Profile of Mr. Baskar Bhat
Mr. Bhaskar Bhat is currently the managing director of Titan Company Limited. Bhaskar graduated in mechanical engineering from IIT Madras and completed his PGDBM from IIM Ahmadabad.
Bhaskar began his career in 1978 as a management trainee at Godrej & Boyce Manufacturing Company. After spending five years with Godrej, he joined Tata. Since then he has been associated with Titan.
Bhaskar has been in Titan since its inception and has engineered the creation of many brands including pioneering the concept of franchising and retailing in watches, Jewellary, eyewear and precision engineering.
Titan has grown to become the largest watch manufacturer in India and the fifth largest in the world.
Under Bhaskar’s leadership, the company has enlarged its portfolio and has extended its market now to eyewear accessories and fragrances and is exploring sarees.
Bhaskar is on the governing council of TA Pai Management Institute and National Institute of Design. He has been awarded with the Distinguished Alumunus Award at IIT, Madras.
Bhaskar is also the director for Trent, Bosch, Tata Chemicals, Rallis India, Tata SIA (Vistara), Tata Ceramics, Montblanc and Caratlane.
