NIQR 30th Year Celebrations
National Institution for Quality and Reliability came into existence in July 1987 with the amalgamation of National Institution of Quality Assurance and Indian Association of Quality and Reliability.
NIQR organised a grand celebrations with a family get-together on 30th September 2018 at Ideal Beach Resort, Mahabalipuram.
The entire celebrations were planned by Mr. K. Manikandan, National Vice President, NIQR with the main intention of having all the NIQR members with their families and have fun for a whole day forgetting all the day to day worries and tensions in their professional life.
To ensure trouble free day, all the members were picked up and dropped at their doorsteps by the organisers; seven vans were organised to go to different corners of the city and the organisers employed a networking system to ensure all were comfortable.
The day started with traditional welcome by the resort team’s Nadaswaram troupe and the members were taken through a beautiful cave like arrangement well lit and depicting NIQR’s growth story in colorful collage of photos of the last 30 years. Many of the seniors felt nostalgic with the display.
After a sumptuous buffet breakfast, the guests were seated comfortably in the spacious auditorium and were impressed by the Nadaswaram band’s performance.
Ms. Hema was the choreographer for the entire event and she made all the members feel at ease with an array of ice-breakers. She ensured the seniors and juniors mixed well without any inhibition.
Mr. Nandakumar, Vice Chairman, NIQR Chennai Branch was the MC and he did an excellent job with his soft and sweet voice; for the games and dances, he ensured the guests did not feel uncomfortable at any point of time.
The seniors were requested by the organisers to share some important moments in their NIQR journey and the audience listened to them with rapt attention.
There was plenty of excitement with lot of dances and Mr. C. V. Gowri Sankar, National Secretary, NIQR set the tone for the day with pulling almost everybody to the dance floor. He targeted shy persons and ensured they joined the fun after some initial hesitancy.

- Bharatha Natyam by Mr. Rajesh
- Magic Show by Mr. Vicky
- Juggling by Mr. Prashanth
- Stand-up Comedy by Mr. Diwakar
- Songs by Mr. Jayakrishna
The lunch was a memorable one and majority were complaining about the vast spread; but their taste buds ensured they had a hand in almost all in display.
The enthusiasm did not wane after a sumptuous food and the participants participated with added enthu in mini-competetions for all ages; showcased their energy level in almost all the dances.
The high point of the day was dance competition between seniors’ team and kuttys’ team and the kuttys won hands down.
Mr. Prasanna Manikandan treated the audience with a fine guitar display and his parents got energized by his performance; they took the mike from the professional singers and gave a couple of fine old melodies.
The organisers made the day really memorable day for the families with a lovely memento at the end of the day.
