Training the Trainer Program on ZED Awareness
NIQR Head Quarters organised “Training the Trainer Program on ZED Awareness” on 21st January 2017 at the Hotel Hilton Chennai. The program was conducted by Dr. A. Raj, faculty from Quality Council of India. 23 senior officials from NIQR participated in the one day program.
Welcoming the participants, Mr. P K Aggarwal, National President – NIQR recalled NIQR’s commitment to propagation of Prime Minister’s Make in India and mentioned about the MOU to drive the “Zero Defect Zero Effect (ZED)”program between NIQR and QCI signed as early as October 2015.
Dr. A. Raj started with the genesis of ZED as part of ‘Make in India’ and the activities completed so far. He explained the present scenario where QCI has to ensure propagation of ZED to 22,222 MSMEs within 2 years and the role to be played by nodal agencies like NIQR.
He briefed the 8 activities planned in ZED Awareness & Training and focused on the Industry Awareness progamme wherein the MSMEs are sensitized about the Zero Defect Zero Effect manufacturing, benefits of ZED certification, QMS/QTT and their benefits.
Dr Raj explained the roadmap for ZED certification from register on-line, self-assessment, Desktop Assessment, Site-assessment, ZED rating and ZED certification. He dwelt at length the ZED Maturity Assessment Model and its parameters both enablers and outcomes.
He clearly spelt out the financial support to MSMEs in ZED certification scheme and its timeline. Detailing the role of consultants, assessors and certification body, he also spelt out the checks and balances in the scheme.
He concluded explaining the holistic nature of ZED certification in evaluation and assessment of MSMEs on Quality, Productivity, Energy Efficiency, Pollution mitigation, Financial Status, Human resource, Design and IPR both in Product & Process.
The Q&A session was very useful to both participants and the faculty. He took many of the prevailing concerns of MSMEs (raised by participants) in terms of governance and timeline for future fine tuning of the system by QCI.
Mr. S Rajasekaran, National Vice President – NIQR thanked QCI for deputing a senior faculty for this program and Dr. Raj for presenting the details of training in a well structured way. Mr. Sridharan Balaji, National Secretary – NIQR proposed the vote of thanks.
