A Guest Lecture on Industry 5.0

A Guest Lecture on Industry 5.0

A Guest Lecture on Industry 5.0 was organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Vadapalani, on 12th February 2026.

The session was conducted by Mr. C. V. Gowri Sankar, National Council Member, NIQR with the topic “Impact of Industry 5.0 in Various Sectors” from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon, engaging with 70 budding Mechanical Engineers along with respected faculty members.

The journey began with tracing the evolution from Industry 1.0 to Industry 5.0 — moving beyond automation toward a future that is human-centric, sustainable, and purpose-driven. The concepts were brought to life through more than 40 carefully curated videos, enabling students to visualize real-world transformations across sectors.

A special focus was placed on India’s extraordinary progress, particularly in Defence and Space technologies. Showcasing India’s achievements ignited pride and aspiration among the students, reinforcing the message that they are not just learners — but future contributors to the nation’s technological rise.

The two-hour session was marked by vibrant interaction, curiosity, and thoughtful questions, reflecting the enthusiasm and potential of young engineering minds.

Adding immense grace to the occasion was the presence of 87-year-young Col. Chakravarthy, former NIQR official, who attended as a special invitee. In his brief yet inspiring address at the end, he congratulated the faculty for his passion to learn and commitment to transferring knowledge; he blessed the students with wishes for a bright and meaningful future. His words beautifully bridged generations — reminding everyone that learning and service to society are lifelong missions.

This session marks NIQR’s 68th program on Industry 4.0/5.0. So far, 15,657 minds have been sensitized to the evolving industrial revolution — each session adding momentum to a larger mission of preparing India for Industry 5.0.

The journey continues — with knowledge, purpose, and national pride.

The program was organised and coordinated by Assistant Professors Mr. Dinakaran and         Mr. Gowri Manohar.
