

The National Institution for Quality and Reliability marked a significant milestone with the successful organization of the Tenth Annual Competition on Six Sigma / Task Achievement Case Study Presentations on December 21, 2024 at Hotel Radha Regent. This flagship event showcased groundbreaking achievements by organizations leveraging Six Sigma methodologies to enhance quality, efficiency, and business impact.
Grand Inauguration
The event commenced with a traditional lighting of the Kuthuvilakku, symbolizing the illumination of knowledge and excellence. Dr. V. Swaminathan, Senior National Vice President, NIQR, delivered the welcome address, highlighting the competition’s growing significance and the record-breaking 75 teams that participated, representing diverse industries. This remarkable turnout underscored the competition’s increasing impact in fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
The competition featured five parallel streams, meticulously
planned and executed for seamless presentations. Dr. A. Sanjeeva Rao, Chief
Jury, provided the teams with a structured overview of the competition’s
framework, evaluation criteria, and expectations. Supporting the event’s smooth
execution, Mr. C.V. Gowri Sankar, NEC Member, briefed the participants
on the sessions’ sequence and guidelines. An esteemed panel of jurors meticulously
evaluated the case studies, recognizing excellence in Six Sigma implementation.
Valedictory Function and Key Highlights
The closing ceremony was presided over by Shri S. Murali Shankar, National President – NIQR, who applauded the participants for their dedication to quality excellence. Dr. V. Swaminathan emphasized the immense learning derived from the event and its role in fostering an ecosystem of innovation and quality transformation.
The Chief Guest, Shri N. S. Venkatamurugan, National Head of Operations, Saint-Gobain Glass Business in India, commended NIQR for creating a platform that continually nurtures and enhances Six Sigma expertise across industries. He encouraged participants to take their learnings forward and drive impactful changes within their organizations.
A significant moment of the event was the launch of “Basics of Six Sigma – Reference Guide”, authored by Dr. A. Sanjeeva Rao, Dr. V. Swaminathan, and Mr. R. Mohana Krishnan. The book was unveiled by NIQR’s National President and the Chief Guest, reinforcing NIQR’s commitment to knowledge dissemination.

Dr. S. Rajasekaran, Former National President – NIQR highlighted NIQR’s vision to extend the competition’s reach to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), amplifying the benefits of Six Sigma across industries.
