NIQR Indi Piston Award Function Sep 2014

NIQR – INDIAPISTONS –  Outstanding  Life Time Achievement  Award Function

NIQR Award Function was held on 12th September 2014 at The Park Chennai Hotel, Chennai.

Mr. A. Krishnamoorthy, Chairman, Amalgamations Group presided over the award function.

Mr. R. Sivanesan, Special Director – Central Quality, Ashok Leyland Ltd and National President – NIQR welcomed the members present and briefed about this great occasion to honour and confer NIQR – INDIAPISTONS Award for Outstanding Life Time Achievement – 2014 on Prof. Yasutoshi Washio of Japan, a Deming Application Prize Winner and globally renowned expert in Total Quality Management (TQM) and President, Japanese Society for Quality Control.

Prof. Washio was introduced by Dr. N.Ravichandran, Executive Director, Lucas TVS Ltd.

The Citation of the NIQR – INDIA PISTONS  Award for  Outstanding Life Time Achievement – 2014 was readout by Mr. G.R. Janarthanan, Executive Director , India Pistons Ltd. and Past National President  – NIQR.

Mr. A. Krishnamoorthy, the Chief Guest felicitated Prof. Washio with a Shawl and conferred the Award.

Prof. Washio was felicitated by Mr. T.K.Balaji, Chairman &  Managing Director, Lucas TVS Ltd., and  Mr.N. Haribabu, Vice President  –TQM , Rane Group.

Prof. Washio delivered an excellent  thought provoking  acceptance speech; he reconfirmed his prediction   that Indian manufacturing quality would overtake Japanese industry by the year 2014.The interest shown by the global manufacturing companies in sourcing parts and components from India is on the rise as the recognition to the Indian industries’ commitment to Quality. Today the American, European and Japanese firms are seeking outsourcing deals with Indian manufacturing firms.

During the award function, another award, NIQR – TS KRISHNA Student Award for Best Essay on the topic “Quality – The Global Winning Edge” was conferred on Mr. A. Joseph Rajan, Final year student of Meenakshi Sundararajan Engineering College by Prof. Washio.

In his presidential address, Mr. A. Krishnamurthy congratulated NIQR for choosing Prof. Washio for Life Time Achievement and exhorted Indian industries for reaching and sustaining Quality & Cost Competitiveness in the Global market. Mr. R. Sivanesan felicitated Mr. A. Krishnamurthy with a shawl and memento.

More than 150 members have attended the award function which included past National Presidents of NIQR, CEOs and senior officials from industries in and around Chennai.
